Description

This creamy Roasted Garlic Dip is a flavorful and easy-to-make appetizer that combines the sweet, mellow taste of roasted garlic with a rich blend of sour cream, mayonnaise, and cream cheese. Perfect for parties, it pairs beautifully with chips, crackers, veggies, or as a sandwich spread, delivering a smooth and tangy garlic experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Roasted Garlic

  • 1 large head of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Dip Base

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish (Optional)

  • Chopped chives or parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Garlic: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the top off the head of garlic to expose the cloves, drizzle with olive oil, then wrap it tightly in foil to keep the moisture in and roast for 35–40 minutes until the cloves are soft, golden, and fragrant.
  2. Extract Roasted Garlic: Let the roasted garlic cool slightly so it’s safe to handle. Squeeze the softened garlic cloves out of their skins into a medium mixing bowl, ensuring you get all the flavorful pulp.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add sour cream, mayonnaise, softened cream cheese, lemon juice, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the roasted garlic. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined. For an ultra-smooth, silky texture, you can blend the mixture in a food processor at this stage.
  4. Chill the Dip: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes. This resting time allows all the flavors to meld together beautifully, enhancing the garlic’s sweetness and the creamy texture.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, garnish the dip with freshly chopped chives or parsley if desired. Serve chilled alongside your favorite chips, crackers, raw vegetables, or use as a sandwich spread for a delicious garlic punch.

Notes

  • This dip pairs perfectly with chips, crackers, raw vegetables, or as a flavorful spread for sandwiches.
  • For a tangier kick, add extra lemon juice or stir in a spoonful of Greek yogurt.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 3–4 days for best freshness.
  • To roast garlic without an oven, you can use a grill or a stovetop roasting pan, adjusting cooking times as needed.
