Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough and Sauce
- 1 can pizza dough (refrigerated)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
Cheese and Toppings
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 20 slices pepperoni
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped mushrooms
- Optional: 1/4 cup sliced olives
- Optional: 1/4 cup diced bell peppers
- Optional: 1 tablespoon chopped jalapeños
Seasonings and Finishing
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or spraying it with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Dough Sections: On a floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a large rectangle. Cut the dough into sections measuring approximately 6 by 8 inches each, which will serve as the bases for the burritos.
- Spread the Sauce: Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly in the center of each dough section, creating a flavorful base for the toppings.
- Add Cheese and Pepperoni: Place a generous pinch of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add a few slices of pepperoni on top. You may also include optional vegetables like mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, or jalapeños here if desired.
- Form Burrito Shape: Fold the sides of the dough towards the center, then roll it into a burrito shape. Pinch the edges securely to seal all the fillings inside.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place each sealed burrito seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to keep them closed during baking.
- Add Butter and Seasoning: Brush the tops of each burrito with melted butter. Then evenly sprinkle garlic powder and Italian seasoning over them to enhance flavor and create a golden crust.
- Bake: Bake the burritos in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes until they are golden brown and the cheese inside is bubbling. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can customize the fillings with your favorite pizza toppings such as onions, green peppers, or different types of cheese.
- For a crispier crust, brush the dough with garlic butter before folding the burritos as well.
- These burritos are best served warm and can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven for best results.
- If you prefer a spicier version, add extra jalapeños or a dash of red pepper flakes in the filling or on top before baking.
