Description

A refreshing and nutritious Mixed Berry Smoothie perfect for a quick breakfast or snack, blending frozen berries, banana, milk, and Greek yogurt into a creamy delight with optional sweetener and lemon zest for extra flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 2 cups frozen mixed berries (thawed for 5 minutes)
  • 1 medium banana (cut into 1-inch chunks)

Dairy

  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt

Optional Ingredients

  • 1-2 tablespoons sweetener (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare ingredients: Thaw the frozen mixed berries for 5 minutes and cut the banana into 1-inch chunks to ensure even blending.
  2. Add to blender: Place all ingredients into a blender such as a Vitamix or Nutribullet. Put softer ingredients like banana and yogurt closer to the blades, and the harder frozen berries farther away to facilitate smooth blending.
  3. Blend: Start blending on low speed and gradually increase to high. Continue blending for 1-2 minutes or until the smoothie achieves a creamy, uniform consistency. If blending is difficult, stop to stir or add more liquid, and scrape the sides of the container as needed to ensure thorough mixing.
  4. Taste and adjust: Add additional sweetener if desired and blend again briefly to incorporate.
  5. Serve: Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish with fresh berries and extra lemon zest if preferred. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use any plant-based milk to make this smoothie dairy-free, though nutritional values will differ.
  • Sweetener is optional; adjust according to your taste and dietary needs.
  • For a colder smoothie, blend without thawing berries completely, but expect a thicker texture.
  • Adding spinach or kale can boost nutrients without altering flavor significantly.
  • Consume immediately to enjoy the freshest taste and texture.
