Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Seasoning
- 1 pound Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast (Cut into small pieces or shredded)
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
- Salt and Pepper (To taste)
Vegetables and Garnishes
- 1 medium Onion (Finely chopped)
- 1 cup Diced Bell Peppers (Mix of colors preferred)
- 3 cloves Garlic (Minced)
- ¼ cup Chopped Fresh Cilantro (For garnish and mixing)
- 1 Ripe Avocado (Sliced for topping)
Other Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (For sautéing)
- 1 cup Shredded Cheese (Optional, such as Monterey Jack or Cheddar)
- 4-6 large Soft Tortillas (Flour tortillas preferred)
Instructions
- Season the chicken: Dice the chicken breast into small pieces and season thoroughly with salt, pepper, cumin, paprika, and chili powder. This ensures the chicken is flavorful throughout.
- Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken pieces and sauté for 5-7 minutes until the chicken turns golden brown and is cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, add finely chopped onion and diced bell peppers. Cook them for 4-5 minutes until they soften and become tender.
- Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until the garlic becomes fragrant, infusing the vegetables with flavor.
- Combine chicken and vegetables: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and mix well with the sautéed vegetables. Stir for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together before removing from heat.
Notes
- You can add shredded cheese either inside the filling or melted on top of the assembled torta for extra richness.
- Flour tortillas are preferred for wrapping to ensure softness and flexibility, but you can substitute with whole wheat for a healthier option.
- Adjust spices like chili powder to your heat preference.
- Serve immediately while warm for best texture and flavor.
- Optional: Toast the tortillas lightly before assembling to add a slight crispiness.
