Ingredients
Scale
Tortilla Chips
- 12 corn tortillas (5 to 6-inch, yellow or white)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
- 1 teaspoon lime juice (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the chips evenly.
- Season Tortillas: In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lime juice, and salt to create a flavorful oil mixture. Using a pastry brush, evenly coat both sides of each corn tortilla with this seasoned oil.
- Cut Tortillas: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each coated tortilla into 4 or 6 triangular chips to create the classic chip shape.
- Arrange on Baking Sheets: Lay the tortilla triangles in a single layer on two large baking sheets. It’s okay if some chips touch or slightly overlap.
- Bake Chips: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes if using light-colored baking sheets, or 8 to 11 minutes if using darker baking sheets. The chips are done when they are crisp and golden brown.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, flip the chips halfway through baking.
- Adjust salt to taste after baking if preferred.
- You can substitute olive oil with avocado oil for a different flavor profile.
- Store leftover chips in an airtight container to maintain crunch.
